Manchester United 'to prioritise new striker over defender'

Manchester United may reportedly prioritise signing a new striker in the summer, rather than looking for another option in the middle of defence.

Manchester United may reportedly prioritise signing a new striker during the summer transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have only scored three goals fewer than neighbours Manchester City, who hold a 14-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

However, United have recorded three successive goalless draws in all competitions, failing to score against Real Sociedad, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the team's latest struggles may encourage Solskjaer to prioritise another frontman over a fresh face in defence.

Only Bruno Fernandes is in double figures in the Premier League season, with Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani having netted nine and six goals respectively.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have taken on the workload at the back, restricting fourth-choice Axel Tuanzebe to just 132 minutes of league football.
