Manchester United reportedly hope to conclude a deal for Everton defender Leighton Baines next month.

Manchester United reportedly want to sign Everton defender Leighton Baines before next month's pre-season tour of South Africa and China.

The left-back has repeatedly been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months as the Red Devils look to add to their squad for next season.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson now hopes to wrap up a deal for the 27-year-old as soon as possible, according to The Mirror.

However, a move may not be on the cards anytime soon as the Toffees are thought to want £20m for the defender.

Baines moved to Goodison Park from Wigan Athletic in 2007 for around £5m.
