Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's defence has come under increased criticism recently, and while the Red Devils brought in Alex Telles from Porto on deadline day, United's failed to land a centre-back in the transfer market.
With the powers-that-be at Old Trafford now looking ahead to future windows, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that United are keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Varane's contract situation at the Bernabeu.
Indeed, the World Cup-winning Frenchman is out of contract with Real in 2022 and is supposedly yet to enter talks over a renewal, with United therefore hoping to strike a cut-price deal for Varane next summer.
However, with the likes of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones still on the books at Old Trafford, the Red Devils would most likely have to sell before they can buy.
Varane has made 323 appearances for Real Madrid since joining from Lens in 2011, winning three La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues in that time.
