Manchester United make improved Henrikh Mkhitaryan offer

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirms that the club are considering a "much improved offer" from Manchester United for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that Manchester United have made a "much improved offer" for attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

A number of Europe's biggest clubs have been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old this summer after he scored 23 goals for Dortmund last season.

The Armenia international has just one year remaining on his deal at the Westfalenstadion, and Watzke admitted that the club are considering cashing in for a fee thought to be around £30m this summer.

"The situation is now different. Manchester have made a much improved offer. In situations like this there are always a lot of different things to consider and in the end at one point we have to make a decision," Watze is quoted as saying by Bild.

"And as we are back in training on Monday we will decide at the weekend. I have contacted the relevant people and we will weigh things up at the weekend. And then the board will make the decision, definitely at the weekend."

Should the deal go through then Mkhitaryan will become the latest high-profile player to leave Dortmund this summer, after Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan.
