Manchester United are reportedly lining up a £32m move for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
United have struggled for numbers in the defensive areas this term following the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand in the summer, and manager Louis van Gaal has had to blood in youngsters Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett.
Injuries to Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind have stretched their options further, and a move for Hummels is forthcoming, according to The Guardian.
United are preparing to smash their record transfer for a defender by launching a bid for the World Cup winner in January.
The 25-year-old has two years left on his current deal with Dortmund.
