Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani reportedly comes close to agreeing a move to Brazilian outfit Botafogo at the end of the season.

Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has reportedly become open to a switch to Brazilian outfit Botafogo.

The Uruguayan sees his current Red Devils contract expire in the summer, and, after signing a one-year extension at Old Trafford last term, he is being heavily linked with a move back to South America.

According to Goal, Cavani has made contact with Botafogo and is willing to make the switch upon the expiry of his current deal in England.

Following their first-placed finish in the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie B last season, O Glorioso have reportedly identified the 35-year-old as their prime target ahead of their return to the top flight.

Cavani, who has netted 54 goals in 128 caps for his nation, has featured 54 times for the Red Devils, registering 19 goals and seven assists, although he has been limited to just three starts in the Premier League this season.

Prior to his move to England, the striker turned out 301 times for Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 200 goals and providing 43 assists as well as adding six Ligue 1 titles to his record.
