Manchester United are reportedly informed that it will cost £62m to secure the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.
The Premier League giants are known to be in the market for a new central midfielder, amid uncertainty revolving around Paul Pogba.
A number of high-profile names have been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, including Valverde who has not always been first choice at the Bernabeu.
However, according to El Nacional, Los Blancos have no intention of accepting any bids unless they meet the Uruguay international's price tag.
That stance may lead to United reassessing their shortlist with alternatives on the market for a cheaper price, including Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria.
Valverde also penned a contract extension as recently as August, keeping him at the La Liga leaders until 2027.
