Manchester United are allegedly in the market for a striker who can play second fiddle to the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Manchester United are allegedly prepared to sign a second-choice striker during the January transfer window.

Throughout the final weeks of 2019, United have been attempting to convince Erling Braut Haaland to leave Red Bull Salzburg for Old Trafford.

However, it was announced on Sunday that the Norway international had instead opted to join Borussia Dortmund, leaving United to focus on other targets.

Rather than pay over the odds for another frontline forward, the Manchester Evening News claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be prepared to bring in backup to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Both players, as well as Mason Greenwood, have impressed in the final third during December, arguably creating less urgency to add another high-profile name in the final third.

The report adds that it is still possible that United will opt for a quiet transfer window, rather than one which sees the arrival of at least two fresh faces.
