Manchester United to make Bastian Schweinsteiger move?

A report claims that Louis van Gaal is tempted to make a move for Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer - a player he managed during his time in charge of Bayern Munich.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will reportedly make a move for Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger during the summer transfer window, as he attempts to bolster his midfield options.

The Dutchman is said to be keen on adding at least one more experienced option in the middle of the park ahead of next season, due to a current over-reliance on Michael Carrick in that deep-lying position.

Van Gaal has already been knocked back in his rumoured pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, who looks certain to stay at the Westfalenstadion, but The Telegraph believes that talks are already underway to land Schweinsteiger.

It is suggested that United are confident of signing the World Cup winner this summer, with contract talks at Bayern currently stalling.

Schweinsteiger, who was a key figure under Van Gaal during the Dutchman's time in charge of the Bavarian giants, has recently returned to action following a troublesome injury problem.
