Manchester United reportedly accelerate their interest in Christian Eriksen, who is now officially a free agent.

Manchester United have reportedly accelerated their interest in Christian Eriksen, with the Red Devils bidding to sign the attacker on a free transfer this summer.

The Denmark international's contract at Brentford has now officially expired, although it is believed that the Bees are still pushing to keep hold of him due to his strong form in the second half of last season.

Eriksen had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator device fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020, which saw him leave Inter Milan and arrive at Brentford, joining Thomas Frank's side on a free transfer for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.

The 30-year-old scored once and provided four assists in 11 Premier League appearances for the Bees, which alerted the attention of a number of English clubs.

Man United have been strongly linked with the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker in recent weeks, with the 20-time English champions said to have placed a contract offer on the table.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Eriksen was close to making a decision on his future, with the Red Devils said to be in pole position to sign him.

According to The Mirror, Man United are now stepping up their efforts to sign the Dane, informing his agent that they are prepared to pay him £150,000 a week on a two-year contract.

Eriksen, though, is allegedly in no rush to make a final call, as he wants to monitor who Erik ten Hag's side sign this summer before deciding whether to move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle United and Leicester City are also said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, with the player recently stating that he has a number of offers this summer.

"I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision. I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn't essential for me," Eriksen told Viaplay.

Meanwhile, Eriksen also recently insisted that he was not prepared to rush the decision on his future, telling Bold.dk: "There are many criteria and many different things inside such a decision. Sometimes it goes fast in football, other times a little slower.

"You are not in control of it yourself. I have to make the best decision and not rush anything through. My phone stays on, but I also know my agent well enough to know that he only calls if there's something exciting."

Eriksen previously represented Tottenham between 2013 and 2020, making 305 appearances for the North London side in all competitions, scoring 69 goals and registering 90 assists in the process.

The attacker would allegedly be keen to make the move to Old Trafford if Ten Hag's side were able to complete deals for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Feyenoord's Tyrell Malacia.
