Manchester United are in a position to spend £70m during the January transfer window, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly in a position to spend £70m during the January transfer window.

The Red Devils brought Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo to the club over the summer, and head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being expected to oversee a title challenge this season.

However, the 20-time English champions have fallen five points off the top of the table in recent weeks, having taken just one point from their last three league matches.

Man United allegedly have no plans to sack Solskjaer as manager despite the disappointing run of form, with the Norwegian retaining the full support of the club's board.

According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils can spend up to £70m on new signings during the January transfer window, but Solskjaer will only have access to the funds if the club are in a position to launch a serious title challenge in the second half of the campaign.

The report claims that the amount of financial backing depends on the team's position in England's top flight at the turn of the year.

Man United will be looking to bounce back from Saturday's 4-2 loss at Leicester City in the Premier League when they host Atalanta BC in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
