Manchester United reportedly rule out the prospect of selling out-of-favour duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay during the January transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly decided against selling either Harry Maguire or Scott McTominay during the January transfer window.

Both players have found regular minutes hard to come by since Erik ten Hag took over in the summer, with Maguire limited to only four Premier League starts this season and McTominay starting just six times in the top flight.

Both players have fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford in 2022-23, leading to increased speculation over their futures at the club.

However, the Daily Mail reports that Man United will not consider selling either player during the mid-season transfer window as Ten Hag is keen to maintain his side's strength in depth in defence and midfield.

Maguire started Tuesday's 3-0 win over Bournemouth, but that was the first time he has been included in a Premier League starting XI since October.

World Cup finalists Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have climbed above the England international in Ten Hag's centre-back standings, while he has generally preferred Fred, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to McTominay in the middle of the park.

The Scotland international has not started a league game since the 6-3 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium at the beginning of October, and was an unused sub against Bournemouth earlier this week.

The pair had been touted as possible options for Man United to raise funds for a new striker, having seen Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club by mutual consent in November.

Maguire has made 156 appearances for Man United across all competitions since joining from Leicester City, while McTominay came through the ranks at Old Trafford and has gone on to play 189 times for the senior side.
