Manchester United are reportedly ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis.
City were linked with a swoop for the 20-year-old during the summer transfer window, and it was recently reported that Pep Guardiola's side were still interested in the Portugal Under-20 international.
However, according to A Bola, United are at the head of the queue for Luis, with City's interest cooling after signing Rodri from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Red Devils have been watching the midfielder in action this season ahead of a potential swoop.
Luis, who has already made five appearances for Benfica this term, only signed a new long-term deal with his Portuguese club last October, which is believed to include a release clause of £107m.
United failed to sign a new central midfielder during the summer despite losing Marouane Fellaini in January and Ander Herrera at the end of the 2018-19 season.
