Manchester United reportedly ask Wolverhampton Wanderers if they are interested in swapping Nelson Semedo for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Manchester United would reportedly be willing to use Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a proposal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Nelson Semedo.

Earlier this week, Wolves announced that the right-back had signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at Molineux until 2025.

However, that decision was taken with Julen Lopetegui as head coach, the Spaniard having since left the club, and it has become increasingly apparent that Wolves have been required to take drastic measures to boost their position with FFP.

Semedo impressed in his club's opening fixture of 2023, a 1-0 defeat at Man United, yet he is believed to be one of the big earners - if not top - at the West Midlands outfit.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that United boss Erik ten Hag held an interest in signing the Portugal international before the end of the summer transfer window.

That was despite the Dutchman already having two options at his disposal in the form of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the pair having contrasting qualities which arguably prove valuable to United.

Nevertheless, according to Football Insider, Ten Hag would be willing to allow Wan-Bissaka to move to Wolves if it meant signing Semedo.

Although Wan-Bissaka rarely featured for United during the first half of 2022-23, he won over Ten Hag after the World Cup and made a total of 34 appearances in all competitions.

The 25-year-old has also started United's opening two Premier League fixtures this season, providing the assist for Raphael Varane's winner against Wolves on August 14.

Due to FFP constraints, though, United are not in a position where they can spend freely on a new right-back, particularly when they still want to bring in another central midfielder.

Wan-Bissaka has less than 12 months remaining on his contract and cashing in on the former Crystal Palace man would prove beneficial if it meant reducing any outlay on Semedo.

As it stands, it is unclear whether Wolves would demand a fee on top of receiving Wan-Bissaka's services, or whether the player is interested in linking up with Gary O'Neil's team.

Matt Doherty is Wolves' other established right-back, with Jonny Castro potentially being allowed to leave before the September 1 transfer deadline.
