Manchester United face obstacle in Bruno Fernandes pursuit?

Sporting Lisbon will attempt to raise the release clause of Bruno Fernandes - linked with Manchester United - from £86.5m to £129.8m, according to a report.

Sporting Lisbon will reportedly attempt to raise the release clause of Bruno Fernandes from £86.5m to £129.8m ahead of a potential summer bid from Manchester United.

Fernandes is enjoying a brilliant 2018-19 campaign, finding the back of the net on 28 occasions and also contributing 15 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions for his Portuguese club.

United have been strongly linked with the 24-year-old, who has recently hinted that he would be open to a move to the Premier League in this summer's transfer window.

Fernandes's current deal includes a release clause of £86.5m, but according to Calciomercato, Sporting are keen to commit the midfielder to a new contract which will raise the buy-out figure to £129.8m.

The Portuguese joined Sporting from Sampdoria in 2017 and has helped the Green and Whites land two Taca da Liga crowns during the last two campaigns.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan are also believed to be considering a summer bid.
