Manchester United and Arsenal could battle for the signature of Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, according to a report.

Manchester United and Arsenal could reportedly go head-to-head for the signature of Juventus forward Federico Chiesa during the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, as his contract in Turin is due to expire in the summer of 2025, and discussions over an extension are believed to have stalled.

The two parties are thought to be some way apart when it comes to personal terms, which has led to suggestions that the Italy international could be allowed to leave at the start of 2024.

According to Calciomercato, both Man United and Arsenal are carefully monitoring the situation in the event that the forward becomes available during the winter market.

The report claims that Chiesa is open to a move to the Premier League and is viewed by Man United as a possible replacement for Jadon Sancho.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that there is a "99.9%" chance of Sancho leaving Old Trafford in January due to the breakdown in his relationship with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are also said to want to add another attacker in January due to the question marks surrounding Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.

Both players have impressed during stages of the season for the Gunners, but the club are thought to be looking for an upgrade through the middle in order to challenge for the major trophies this term.

Chiesa, who has largely operated as a centre-forward for Juventus this season, has scored four times and registered one assist in 10 Serie A appearances in 2023-24.

The Italian has scored 26 goals and registered 21 assists in 104 appearances for his current side in all competitions, including six goals and two assists in 13 Champions League outings.

Chiesa has also scored five times in 42 appearances for Italy and helped them win the European Championship in 2021.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the forward amid claims that he could be available for around €60m (£52m) during the January market.

Chiesa's current salary at Juventus is believed to be around €5m (£4.3m) per year, but it is likely that he would be able to earn more than that by moving to the Premier League.
