Manchester City are reportedly set to step up their interest in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland as they look to replace Sergio Aguero this summer.
It was announced on Monday evening that City's all-time record goalscorer is to leave the club at the end of this season when his current deal expires, after a historic and hugely successful 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City believe Haaland would be the perfect replacement for Aguero and are ready to step up their pursuit this summer to fend off interest from other European rivals.
Other elite clubs such as rivals Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also all believed to be interested in the Norwegian international.
However, City are understood to be the frontrunners for Haaland, who has further enhanced his reputation as one of the world's most exciting young forwards after a stellar 2020-21 season.
The 20-year old, who is valued by Dortmund at around £150m, has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the German club so far this campaign, scoring a remarkable 33 goals and providing eight assists.
