Manchester City have reportedly decided that they are prepared to complete a deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
The 21-year-old has began to establish himself as one of Dutch football's biggest prospects, and the youngster has already made 50 appearances for Ajax and featured for the senior Netherlands side.
The player's form has resulted in interest from a number of top European clubs - including Barcelona, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur - but it appears that City are ready to win the race.
According to Sport, the Premier League champions are prepared to pay €80m (£70.4m) to sign De Jong and allow him to complete the season with Ajax.
City boss Pep Guardiola is eager to secure a new defensive midfielder, and De Jong could fit the bill once he has gained more experience in the Eredivisie.
