Real Madrid 'to swap Cristiano Ronaldo with Romelu Lukaku'

Cristiano Ronaldo may be on his way back to Manchester United this summer as Real Madrid are reportedly willing to use him in an exchange deal with Romelu Lukaku.

Real Madrid are weighing up whether to offer Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United in exchange for Romelu Lukaku, according to a report.

The European champions are looking to bring in a prolific striker this summer following Karim Benzema's underwhelming campaign last time out.

Lukaku is attracting plenty of interest from Madrid chiefs, having netted a further 26 goals in all competitions last season, and Spanish outlet Diario Gol claims that a swap deal may be proposed.

As well as offering Ronaldo to former club United, the report suggests that £44m in cash will also be tabled, with Los Blancos desperate to bring in a new number nine.

Lukaku is currently on World Cup duty with Belgium, scoring four goals in his first two outings in Russia to remain in contention for the Golden Boot.
