Jesse Lingard reportedly turns down a new contract offer at Manchester United, with his current deal due to expire at the end of this season.

Jesse Lingard has reportedly rejected the opportunity to extend his stay at Manchester United.

The England international was strongly linked with a permanent move to West Ham United over the summer after netting nine goals and setting up five more in 16 appearances during last season's impressive loan spell.

However, a return to the London Stadium did not materialise for Lingard, who must now attempt to compete with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho for spots in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's attack.

The 28-year-old has now entered the final year of his deal with Man United, and according to BBC Sport, he has turned down the club's offer of a new contract.

The report adds that Lingard is concerned about his prospects of regular game time with Ronaldo and Sancho now in the fold, and he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs elsewhere come January.

The attacker has only played four minutes of Premier League football so far this term, while he scored two goals and set up another in England's 4-0 thrashing of Andorra at the weekend.
