Ipswich Town keen to extend Ryan Tunnicliffe stay

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy reveals that he is hoping to keep Manchester United's Ryan Tunnicliffe on loan beyond January.

Ipswich Town are in talks with Manchester United to extending Ryan Tunnicliffe's loan deal at the club beyond January.

Since joining in the summer, the 20-year-old has impressed for Mick McCarthy's side and the club is keen to keep the midfielder until the end of the season.

McCarthy has confirmed that he is hoping to speak to David Moyes about Tunnicliffe's future, but remains wary that the Premier League champions may want to give the youngster a loan move in the top flight.

"I've tried to ring Moyesey but he's busy and it doesn't need to be done yet," McCarthy told Sky Sports News. "His agent knows we want to keep him, Tunners knows I want to keep him. We'll see what happens.

"I guess the only way it won't happen is if they want to take him back and put him in the team or if they want to take him back and put him out at a Premier League club, which could happen, but we knew that at the start.

"Hopefully, he'll be with us."

Tunnicliffe has made 15 appearances for Ipswich so far this season.
