Denmark Under-18s head coach Morten Eskesen says that Chido Obi Martin still "doesn't have a club", with Manchester United yet to secure his signature.

Denmark Under-18s head coach Morten Eskesen has said that Chido Obi Martin still "doesn't have a club", with Manchester United yet to finalise a deal for the highly-rated wonderkid.

Obi Martin decided against signing a new contract at Arsenal over the summer despite the North London club's best efforts, and it is understood that Man United have won the race to bring in the 16-year-old.

However, as it stands, there has not been any official confirmation over a deal for the attacker, who scored 32 goals in 18 league matches for Arsenal Under-18s last season.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said last month that the teenager had already completed the first part of his Man United medical, but the deal is subject to the Premier League five-step investigation, which occurs when a player switches between two Category One academies.

Meanwhile, journalist Christopher Michel recently posted on X: "Although Chido Obi Martin's contract at Arsenal has expired, I heard that MUFC can't just sign him on a free transfer. Very complicated. He is therefore only training individually and has not yet been presented. Possibly this will go before a court."

Man United are expected to sign Obi Martin

Eskesen has now had his say on the situation, with Denmark's Under-18s manager confirming that a move is yet to go through, while he also talked-up Obi Martin's potential.

"I spoke to him last week and asked him if he was fit for the fight and injury free. He was, and he is in between jobs," the 56-year-old told Tipsbladet.

"Right now he doesn't have a club, but it's only a matter of time. After all, a lot happens in the transfer window. We know what he stands for.

"When I read about him, they have been queuing up to get him. I'm sure a man with that talent will have no trouble finding a club. It might be more about which club he chooses.

Eskesen calls Obi Martin "a really good finisher"

"His greatest competence is that he scores many goals. If you saw some of the goals at the European Championships... he's a really good finisher and positionally good, so he gets free for that.

"He is also good man-to-man. He is good at running in depth in relation to getting into free positions. His finishing skills are what allow him to score so many goals."

The forward famously struck 10 times against Liverpool Under-16s last November, while he managed 28 goals in his last nine games of the 2023-24 campaign for Arsenal Under-18s.

There have been claims that Obi Martin will be Man United's third-choice striker behind Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee once the move is confirmed, with the forward potentially making his first-team debut during the 2024-25 campaign.
