Real Madrid are supposedly at risk of seeing their interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland snubbed by the Norwegian.
Haaland remains one of the most sought-after players in world football after staying put at Dortmund over the summer, with Real Madrid thought to be one of the frontrunners for his signature.
However, Los Blancos are also expected to prioritise a free transfer for Kylian Mbappe in the summer of 2022, and their interest in the Frenchman could complicate matters with regards to Haaland.
According to Marca, Haaland wants to be seen as a 'leader' at his next club, and there are no guarantees that he would be willing to share the spotlight with Mbappe at the Bernabeu.
As a result, Real are at risk of losing out in the race for the 21-year-old, who is also believed to be on the radar of Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
The three sides were handed a further boost in their pursuit of Haaland earlier this week, with Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta admitting that there is "absolutely no chance" of the striker moving to Serie A.
Haaland already boasts 11 goals and four assists from eight games this term, taking his total to the club to 68 goals and 19 assists from 67 appearances.
