Tony Cottee: 'Inevitable that Harry Kane will leave Tottenham Hotspur'

Former Premier League striker Tony Cottee expects Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur in next summer's transfer window.

Former Premier League striker Tony Cottee has claimed that it is "inevitable" that Harry Kane will leave Tottenham Hotspur in the near future.

Kane recently said that he would consider his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if he no longer felt that the club were heading in the right direction.

Manchester United continue to be strongly linked with the England captain, who has not played since New Year's Day due to a hamstring problem.

Cottee has suggested that Spurs will be able to keep hold of the 26-year-old this summer but expects the centre-forward to seek pastures new ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.

"I think there will come a time when he says 'I've done as much as I can, I've scored lots of goals for Spurs but for many, many reasons it's not happened'," Cottee told Sky Sports News. "Everything is in place there. They've got a great stadium, great club, great fans etc. but they haven't won anything.

"That's what Harry will want to taste before he finishes his career. You want that feeling of winning the Premier League or Champions League and at the moment I can't see him doing that at Spurs. I think it's inevitable, if it doesn't happen in the next year or so, I think Harry will leave - probably next summer."

Kane - also linked with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City in recent weeks - has scored 181 goals in 278 appearances for Spurs in all competitions.
