Manchester United will reportedly not be signing Chelsea's Ben Chilwell in the closing stages of the summer transfer window despite the speculation surrounding the left-back.
Diogo Dalot has been playing at left-back in the early stages of the 2024-25 campaign, with new signing Noussair Mazraoui operating on the right, as Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both sidelined.
The 20-time English champions have allegedly been open to signing a new player in that area of the field this summer if the right opportunity arrived.
Chelsea and Man United are currently in talks over Raheem Sterling and Jadon Sancho, with the pair potentially switching clubs this summer, although it is believed that Juventus have taken the lead when it comes to the battle to sign the latter from Old Trafford.
According to The Independent, during the transfer talks, Chilwell was discussed, with Man United keen to learn how much it would take to bring in the England international.

Man United 'decide against' Chilwell move
However, the report claims that the Red Devils have ultimately decided against moving for Chilwell.
The two clubs are said to have been 'some way apart' in terms of the figures involved, meaning that Chilwell could be forced to sit on the sidelines until at least January, as he is not in Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca's plans for the 2024-25 campaign.
Chilwell has made 106 appearances for his current club, scoring nine goals and registering 12 assists, but he was restricted to just 21 outings in all competitions last term due to fitness issues.
Marc Cucurella will be Chelsea's number one left-back this season, and Chilwell has been told that he will have to move elsewhere in order to secure first-team minutes in 2024-25.

Sterling 'remains a possibility' for Man United
Sterling could allegedly yet move to Man United, but it is a complicated situation due to the amount of moving parts, with Juventus now thought to be leading the Sancho race.
Without the involvement in Sancho in the deal, it is highly unlikely that Sterling will join the 20-time English champions before the end of the summer transfer window.
Sterling is in the same situation as Chilwell, having been told that he is not in Maresca's plans this season, and a number of other clubs are also said to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
Chelsea continue to work on further incomings, with the Blues being heavily linked with a move for Brentford's Ivan Toney, while Man United are expected to confirm a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte over the next 24 hours.
