Manchester United are ready battle Chelsea for the signature of Porto defender Alex Telles, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle Chelsea for the signature of Porto defender Alex Telles.

The 27-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2019-20 campaign for his Portuguese club, scoring 13 times and providing 12 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions.

The defender could allegedly be available for as little as €25m (£22.8m) during this summer's transfer window as his contract at the Estadio do Dragao is due to expire next June.

Chelsea continue to be strongly linked with his services, but according to Correio de Manha, United will 'advance' to sign the Brazil international ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams have shared the left-back spot at United this season, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be keen to improve his full-back options this summer.

Manchester City have also previously been linked with Telles, who made his Brazil debut last March.
