Barcelona 'want Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera in January'

Barcelona will reportedly move for Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera in January.

Barcelona are reportedly planning to move for Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera when the transfer window reopens in January.

Since Nemanja Matic arrived at Old Trafford, the Spaniard has struggled for minutes, starting just two Premier League games and making nine appearances in all competitions.

According to Don Balon, Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde believes that Herrera would be an ideal successor to Andres Iniesta, who recently signed a new 'lifetime' deal at Camp Nou.

Valverde is already familiar with the United midfielder as pair worked together at Athletic Bilbao, where Herrera spent three years of his career.

The 28-year-old, who signed for the Red Devils in 2014, will come to the end of his current contract next summer.
