Barcelona are reportedly working to extend Ousmane Dembele's contract at Camp Nou, as the Catalan giants are desperate not to lose the Frenchman on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old's existing deal with Ronald Koeman's side is due to expire next June, and it is thought that the attacker has thus far rejected the chance to pen an extension.
A serious knee injury, which required surgery, has scuppered Dembele's chances of leaving Barcelona this summer, but there remains widespread speculation surrounding his future.
A recent report claimed that Manchester United could sign the Frenchman on a free transfer next summer, with the Red Devils, as it stands, able to enter into contract talks with the attacker in January 2022.
However, according to Sport, Barcelona are working on a contract renewal for the former Rennes youngster, as they know that they cannot afford to let him leave for nothing.
Dembele, who has struggled with a number of injury problems during his time at Camp Nou, is also believed to be a target for Italian giants Juventus.
