Louis van Gaal 'confirms Manchester United exit'

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal reportedly tells cameras that his reign is "over" amid reports that Jose Mourinho will be named as the club's new manager.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly confirmed that he will be leaving the club.

The Dutchman has faced intense speculation over his future for much of the season and saw United miss out on Champions League football for the second time in three seasons courtesy of a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League this term.

United did end the campaign with silverware thanks to their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final yesterday, but shortly after the final whistle at Wembley numerous reports surfaced suggesting that Jose Mourinho had agreed a deal to move to Old Trafford.

The former Chelsea boss has been heavily linked with the post since being sacked by the Blues in December, and while there has been no official comment from the club yet, he is expected to be confirmed as United boss on Monday.

Van Gaal now appears to have confirmed those reports, telling a cameraman "it's over" as he left the team hotel following his side's first FA Cup triumph in 12 years.

The 64-year-old refused to speak to the media regarding his future at the post-match press conference, but his reign is now expected to end tomorrow, with Mourinho taking his place.
