Meanwhile, Manchester United are up to third as a result of their 3-1 win over Leicester City and Southampton's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea City at St Mary's Stadium.
There were comprehensive victories for the Premier League's North London duo, while Liverpool also kept pace with the top four thanks to a 2-0 triumph at the expense of West Ham United.
Towards the bottom, Sunderland prevailed 2-0 from their home encounter with Burnley, while Everton won 1-0 away at Crystal Palace.

Back in the starting lineup after injury, it seemed that Ozil had never been away. His clever flick sent Olivier Giroud away for the opener, before he got himself on the scoresheet.
Jonathan Walters (Stoke City)
It was the perfect hat-trick for Walters, who almost single-handedly destroyed QPR as he found the net with his left foot, his right foot and his head.
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

Numpty of the week
Ahmed Elmohamady: The Hull winger did his best Diego Maradona impression against Newcastle. However, unlike the Argentine legend, Elmohamady didn't get away with it. Not only did he punch the ball into the net, he ran off to celebrate his goal as if it was legitimate. Then, when it was ruled out, he had the temerity to question the referee's decision. The Egyptian can count himself lucky that he wasn't red carded.
Goal of the week
Loic Remy - (Chelsea) vs. Manchester City: There was some decent goals scored this weekend, but we've gone for a team effort. A neat counter-attack from Chelsea saw Branislav Ivanovic pick out Eden Hazard at the far post with a pinpoint chipped pass. Rather than control the ball, the Belgian volleyed it instantly across the face of goal for a waiting Remy, who was never going to miss from a couple of yards out.
