Premier League 2015-16 in numbers: Week 2

Sports Mole looks back on the second round of 2015-16 Premier League encounters with a selection of facts and figures from each of the 10 matches.

Aston Villa 0-1 Manchester United

The victory saw Man United extend their unbeaten run away at Villa Park to 20 league matches. The last time that they lost to Villa at that venue was back in 1995.

Match-winner Adnan Januzaj scored his fifth Premier League goal, although this was his first since April 2014.

Hosting Villa have now won just one of their last 40 Premier League encounters against the Red Devils.


Southampton 0-3 Everton

Romelu Lukaku has scored 44 Premier League goals, which is more than any other Belgian has managed in England's top division.

Everton's other goalscorer - Ross Barkley - scored and assisted a goal for the first time in one Premier League match.

As for the Saints, they have now gone eight Premier League encounters without keeping a clean sheet.


Sunderland 1-3 Norwich City

The hosting Black Cats have conceded 10 goals in their last three Premier League outings.

Young substitute Duncan Watmore scored a consolation in 88th minute with what was only Sunderland's second shot on target.

Russell Martin's goal was the 13th that he has scored for Norwich following his arrival from Peterborough United in 2010.


Swansea City 2-0 Newcastle United

Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis scored his seventh goal in his last eight Premier League outings.

The victory means that the Swans are now unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Newcastle, six of which they have won.

Meanwhile, the travelling Magpies have now lost seven away games on the bounce.


Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 Stoke City

Harry Kane, who found the net 31 times in all competitions last term, has scored just two goals in his last 10 Premier League appearances.

It was also the England international's 50th outing in the Premier League.

Visiting Stoke came from two goals down to claim a point for the first time since December 2012.


Watford 0-0 West Bromwich Albion

These two sides met in the top flight of English football for the first time since 1985.

For Watford, their wait for a Premier League victory will continue, having not tasted a win since 2007.

As for West Brom, they have not lost to the Hornets in the last 15 clashes between the pair, winning eight times and drawing seven.


West Ham United 1-2 Leicester City

Leicester striker Shinji Okazaki became the fifth Japanese player to score a Premier League goal after Junichi Inamoto, Hidetoshi Nakata, Maya Yoshida and Shinji Kagawa.

Since the start of April, Leicester have collected 28 points, which is more than any other Premier League club.

Summer signing Dimitri Payet scored with what was West Ham's first shot on target.


Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud appears to enjoy his visits to Selhurst Park, having scored on each of his last three visits there.

However, up the other end, the Gunners have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight Premier League away matches.

Of their 38 encounters against Arsenal in all competitions, Palace have won on just three occasions, the last of which came back in 1994 when John Salako scored a brace at Highbury.


Manchester City 3-0 Chelsea

No player has scored more Premier League goals (79) than Sergio Aguero since the Argentine made his City debut in 2011.

Also, the 27-year-old has found the net 10 times in his last nine appearances in the Premier League.

As for Chelsea, skipper John Terry was substituted for the first time by manager Jose Mourinho - a run that dated back 176 matches.


Liverpool 1-0 Bournemouth

This was Liverpool's seventh meeting with Bournemouth and they have still never lost to them, winning on five occasions.

Christian Benteke's first goal for the club was assisted by Jordan Henderson - no English player has set up more Premier League goals (10) than the Liverpool midfielder since the start of last season.

The visiting Cherries had 13 shots over the course of the 90 minutes, but only two called home goalkeeper Simon Mignolet into action.
