Ashley Young could miss Manchester United's trip to Stoke City on Sunday with an ankle injury.

Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young is likely to miss his side's match with Stoke City on Sunday after picking up an ankle injury on Monday.

The England international was replaced after being on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Pablo Zabaleta during United's 2-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.

While the injury is not as bad as first feared, Young will probably miss their trip to the Britannia Stadium at the weekend.

"We've got six days until the Stoke game and, obviously, Ashley may be out," said manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"It may not be serious but I think he'll miss Sunday's game."

Young has played 23 times in all competitions for United this season.
