Danny Welbeck will sign a new five-year deal at Manchester United within the next fortnight, according to reports.

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has reportedly taken a step closer to signing a new contract at Old Trafford.

Negotiations over a new deal have been taking place recently but reports had suggested that the two parties were struggling to reach a deal.

However, The Sun have suggested that the 21-year-old will agree to a deal worth up to £42,000 a week within the next fortnight.

Welbeck has broken into Sir Alex Ferguson's team this season and the five-year deal will discourage potential suitors from making a move for the England international.

Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League.
