Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he will give advice to striker Robin van Persie over his Arsenal future but has insisted that the forward must make the final decision himself.
The 29-year-old, who is currently with the Dutch national team, is thought to be in limbo with regards to his domestic club future as Manchester United and Manchester City continue to be linked with the forward.
"I think the player always has to decide for himself," Van Gaal said in a press conference. "When he wants he can ask me for advice but then I'll speak to him, not to you.
"I had the conversation and it was unbelievable. A great and high level, not only at a human side but also in the football vision. It was one of the best meetings I've had with an individual player."
Van Gaal has not opted to start Van Persie in tonight's international friendly against Belgium.
