Paul Scholes heaps praise on "sensational" Bruno Fernandes

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes claims that Portuguese playmaker Bruno Fernandes has made "a hell of a difference" to the Red Devils.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has labelled Bruno Fernandes "sensational" after he helped his side to a 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Portuguese playmaker got a touch to claim yet another assist for Daniel James's goal in the second half, and he got in on the act himself with a confident penalty as his scintillating form in red continues.

Fernandes has now amassed 15 goals and 11 assists from 25 Premier League appearances this season, and Scholes believes that the former Sporting Lisbon man has made "a hell of a difference" to Man United.

Speaking to BT Sport, Scholes said: "There's definitely progress, Ole has brought a real attacking threat to this team and Bruno Fernandes has been the big difference.

"Only Mo Salah has got more goals than him this season. The influence he has had on this team has been sensational. United before [his arrival] could not create many chances or score many goals.

"He didn't really have a massive effect [against Newcastle] but they are the standards we expect from him now. Assist and another goal, the assist was lucky I suppose but he's made a hell of a difference to this football team."

As well as his 26 goal contributions in the Premier League, Fernandes has also chipped in with seven goals and two assists in cup and continental competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.
