Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes claims that Liverpool and Manchester City will be 'worried' about his old club due to their current good form.

Former England midfielder Paul Scholes has claimed that Liverpool and Manchester City will be 'worried' about his old club Manchester United following their latest run of form.

The Red Devils eased to a 3-0 away victory over relegation threatened Aston Villa on Thursday evening, closing the gap on Leicester City in fourth place, with only one point separating the two sides.

Liverpool, who have already secured the Premier League title, currently sit 34 points ahead of United, while their city rivals are 11 points ahead of them in second place.

However, following United's victory at Villa Park, Scholes took to social media where he claimed that the top two should be 'worried' about Manchester United heading into next season.

"It is time for a couple of teams to start worrying about this team?" Scholes said on Instagram. "I have a hunch they might be already."

United's strong form since the restart has put them in a good position to finish in the top four, however lifting the Europa League trophy this August would be enough to see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side qualify for the Champions League regardless of their league position.
