Manchester United legend Paul Scholes blasts Louis van Gaal philosophy again

Paul Scholes renews his war of words with Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal by claiming that the importance of his philosophy is overstated.

Paul Scholes has renewed his feud with Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal by revealing that the Red Devils do not need his philosophy, just goals and lots of them.

Scholes slammed the team's "boring" style under the veteran coach in October, with the Dutchman hitting back by insisting that the club's legendary midfielder was speaking for himself.

United have netted three times in their last fives games in all competitions, and the 40-year-old insists that such a goal-shy period is not the "Manchester United way".

"It hasn't been great for 13 months, but I better not say too much because Louis might be listening," Scholes is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"There's been talk of a philosophy, a process. For me, Manchester United don't need a philosophy. The fans want to see attacking football and goals – that's the Manchester United way."

Van Gaal's men sit fourth in the Premier League table, two points behind co-leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
