Roy Keane has joked that he was solely responsible for making former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo into the player he has become.
Last week, Real Madrid forward Ronaldo claimed that Keane was very vocal towards him during his early career at Old Trafford, but praised the Irishman for his contribution to his development in the Premier League.
When questioned on Ronaldo at a press conference for Republic of Ireland, Keane said that he 'did not have to' shout at the Portuguese too much due to his willingness to learn.
"Yeah I made him. Only for me he wouldn't be where he is," Keane joked when asked about the 30-year-old.
"Of course yeah, obviously different players have different traits in how you speak to them and who you shout at and who you don't, but I didn't shout at Ronaldo that much. I didn't have to."
Ronaldo played alongside Keane at Man United between 2003 and 2005.
