Wayne Rooney: 'Blame us, not David Moyes'

Wayne Rooney leaps to the defence of Manchester United boss David Moyes by claiming that it is the players who are responsible for the team's form.

Wayne Rooney has leapt to the defence of Manchester United boss David Moyes by claiming that it is the players who are responsible for the team's poor form.

The reigning Premier League champions have endured an indifferent defence of their title thus far, with United sitting 15 points behind leaders Arsenal in the standings.

However, Rooney, who worked with Moyes at Everton, claims that the playing staff are accountable for the team's results rather than the under-fire Scot.

"David Moyes is a fantastic manager, I worked with him at Everton and for a number of months at United," he told BBC Sport. "He's done everything he can but it's the players that have to do better and hopefully we can do that."

The Red Devils host bottom-placed Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
