Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been sent to train with the club's Under-21s after refusing to come on as a late substitute against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old, who dropped down to the bench for the midweek meeting with Spurs, headed down the tunnel before the final whistle had been blown.
Rather than deciding against utilising the forward, a later report revealed that Erik ten Hag wanted to bring Ronaldo on as a late substitute, but the Portugal international refused.
As a result of the incident, Ronaldo has been left out of the squad for Saturday's away game against Chelsea, while the Daily Mail are also reporting that he has been sent to train with the Under-21 side.
The report states that Ronaldo arrived for training with the Under-21s on Friday and later carried out an individual session with coaches.
After being excluded from the squad for Saturday's Premier League contest, Ronaldo released a statement on his Instagram account.
While Ronaldo will not be involved, his United teammates will look to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
