Brendan Rodgers: 'Fatigue won't affect us for Manchester United game'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers feels that tiredness will not affect his team's chances against Manchester United on Sunday despite playing extra time with 10 men against Notts County in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has played down talk of fatigue affecting his players' performance against Manchester United at the weekend.

The Reds were taken to extra time in Tuesday night's 4-2 win against Notts County at Anfield and were forced to play 20 minutes with a man less after Kolo Toure was stretchered off after they had made all three changes.

However, Rodgers feels that tiredness will not be a factor when they entertain the champions on Sunday.

"They'll all be fine, they'll recover well and we'll be excited now looking forward to that game on Sunday," Rodgers told the club's official website.

"We've got plenty of recovery time now for the players. That was the idea - that I could put some of the senior guys in knowing there was enough recuperation period after the game, and obviously to give our young players good experience playing in a competitive game. Young Jordon Ibe is 17, Raheem Sterling is 18 and Andre Wisdom is 20 years of age.

"We'll assess the injuries tomorrow but we'll just see what players are available for us."

Liverpool have won all three games this season.
