Paul McGuinness: 'Marcus Rashford is improving'

Academy coach Paul McGuinness hails the enhancements that young Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has made to his game in recent months.

Manchester United academy coach Paul McGuinness has insisted that Marcus Rashford has "improved a lot" over recent months.

The 18-year-old, who has been named on the senior side's bench twice this season, scored his first goal for United's Under-21s last night.

Speaking about the striker's progression of late, McGuinness admitted that he has been impressed.

"Marcus has done very well and we're getting him to be more focused on the goals now," McGuinness told the club's official website.

"He's improved a lot and is ready for a step up as well. I think he can play in all the teams now - the Under-21s, Under-19s, Under-18s and so on. But we've done a lot of work with him. Particularly, Colin Little, who assists me, has done a lot of work with him.

"Colin had a long career in the lower divisions, scoring a lot of goals, so he's passing on his experience."

Manchester-born Rashford joined United as a trainee in July 2014.
