Manchester United manager David Moyes says that it is "hard to believe" that the club's first few Premier League fixtures came together by chance.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has claimed that it is "hard to believe" that the club's first few Premier League fixtures were decided by chance.

The Scotsman begins his reign as the new United boss with clashes against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City within their first five matches of the 2013-14 campaign.

"I think it's the hardest start for 20 years that Manchester United have had," the Daily Mail quotes Moyes as saying.

"I hope it's not because Manchester United won the league quite comfortably last year [that] the fixtures have been made much more difficult. I find it hard to believe that's the way the balls came out of the bag, that's for sure."

Moyes has also claimed that the club are hoping to bring several players to Old Trafford before the close of the transfer window.
