A report claims that coach Rene Meulensteen is to leave Manchester United as David Moyes continues to shape his backroom staff at Old Trafford.

Rene Meulensteen will reportedly become the latest coach to leave Manchester United over the next 24 hours.

Incoming manager David Moyes decided on Friday afternoon to release assistant boss Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele, both of whom had served for a number of years under the retiring Sir Alex Ferguson.

It had been claimed that Dutchman Meulensteen would remain at Old Trafford, with speculation having linked him with a role coaching the club's youngsters.

However, the 49-year-old first-team coach does not want to work the academy and will depart the club shortly, according to The Times.

Meulensteen was recruited by the Red Devils in 2001.
