Juan Mata: 'Manchester United must stick together'

Juan Mata says that the Manchester United players must stick together following their defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has said that the team must stick together following their defeat in Sunday's Manchester derby.

Louis van Gaal's men lost 1-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with Sergio Aguero's strike separating the sides.

Mata says that he is disappointed to have come out of the game with a defeat.

"A derby is always special and the one in Manchester is really intense, you can feel it in the streets during the week," he wrote in his blog on United's official website.

"That's why it's hard to accept that we have lost and, despite not being able to help my teammates on the pitch, I can tell you that the whole team is very upset.

"Obviously this situation is not what we wanted, but in this moment the team must stick together and keep on going. I'm sure we will do it."

United sit 10th in the Premier League table following the defeat.
