Manchester United have reportedly opted against commenting on reports claiming that they have held talks with Jose Mourinho's camp about possibly taking over at Old Trafford.
After getting sacked by Chelsea in December, Mourinho has emerged as the favourite to replace Louis van Gaal, who will have one year left on his contract at United when the season comes to an end.
Both BBC Sport and the Manchester Evening News reported on Friday evening that United officials have spoken with Mourinho's representatives.
The Premier League giants have declined to give a response to the reports, according to the London Evening Standard.
Van Gaal's future has come under question many times this season due to United's indifferent displays on the pitch, and the Dutchman was recently forced to deny that he has offered his resignation.
The North-West outfit are currently fifth in the league table, five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
