Manchester United make a strong attempt to convince Zinedine Zidane to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as head coach, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly making a strong attempt to convince Zinedine Zidane to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as head coach of the English giants.

Solskjaer has remained in his position at Old Trafford despite a disappointing run of form, but the Norwegian's future with the Red Devils is far from secure.

Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers continues to be strongly linked with a move to the club, but according to The Times, Man United are trying to persuade Zidane to take the position.

The report claims that the Frenchman is unclear whether a move to Man United would be the right step in his career at this moment in time.

However, the Red Devils are allegedly hopeful that Zidane's close relationship with former Real Madrid players Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane could lead him to accepting the challenge.

Unlike Rodgers, Zidane is available without a compensation package, with the 49-year-old not taking another job since leaving Real Madrid earlier this year.

The legendary midfielder, who is believed to be keen on the France job when Didier Deschamps departs, led Los Blancos to two La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns during two separate spells at the helm.
