Manchester United players believe that Dean Henderson could soon replace David de Gea as the club's number one goalkeeper, according to a report.

A number of Manchester United players are reportedly of the opinion that Dean Henderson could soon replace David de Gea as the club's number one goalkeeper.

De Gea has kept the gloves at the start of the 2020-21 campaign despite the return of Henderson, who spent two impressive years on loan with Sheffield United.

Henderson made his first-team debut for the Red Devils against Luton Town in the EFL Cup, but De Gea has been between the sticks for the league games against Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Spain international's form has been called into question on a number of occasions over the last 18 months, though, and according to the Daily Mail, a number of United players believe that Henderson is applying severe pressure to De Gea when it comes to securing the number one spot.

The Englishman is again expected to be given the nod when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side continue their EFL Cup challenge away to Brighton on Wednesday night.

United's next Premier League game is at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
