Louis van Gaal's Man United exit 'imminent' as LMA lawyer arrives at Carrington

Louis van Gaal's exit from Manchester United appears to be edging closer after LMA lawyer Paul Gilroy, who acted for David Moyes, arrives at the club's training ground.

Louis van Gaal's departure as Manchester United manager appears to be drawing ever closer after LMA lawyer Paul Gilroy QC arrived at the club's Carrington training complex this morning.

Gilroy, who works with the League Managers' Association, acted as the employment barrister for David Moyes when the Scotsman was sacked by United in 2014.

Despite guiding the team to their first FA Cup trophy since 2004, Van Gaal is expected to be replaced with Jose Mourinho this week.

The Portuguese coach, who has been out of work since getting sacked by Chelsea in December, is expected to finalise a contract with the Red Devils on Tuesday.

Van Gaal arrived at Carrington this morning and according to BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein, LMA lawyer Gilroy was initially turned away by security when he drove up to the training-ground gates at around 9.30am, but 15 minutes later was allowed in.

Gilroy has acted on behalf of numerous managers, including Sir Alex Ferguson, Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp.
