Jesse Lingard eyes more Manchester United involvement

Jesse Lingard is eager to feature more regularly for Manchester United following his first outing of the season against Everton.

Jesse Lingard has insisted that his "main aim" is to play more regularly for Manchester United.

The 22-year-old was involved for the first time this season when he was introduced as a half-time substitute during the 3-0 win over Everton yesterday afternoon.

He started Louis van Gaal's first ever Premier League match in charge of the Red Devils in 2014 against Swansea City, only to suffer a knee injury early in that game that ruled him out for a number of months.

However, having featured against the Toffees, Lingard has now said that he is determined to prove his worth.

"That is my main aim and I have always wanted to play for Man United. To get 45 minutes won't do me any harm for the next game," the winger told the club's official website.

"Quite a few people from my family came down [to Goodison Park]. Obviously I wasn't sure if I would be involved because I was on the bench but for them to see me on the pitch was a massive honour."

Lingard is contracted to Old Trafford until the summer of 2018.
